Bio

I began the evolution of handling firearms in Ranger ROTC at Jackson State University in 1992.  I had the rewarding experience of serving and competing with other Ranger Battalions within the United States at Camp Shelby for two years.  I began my law enforcement career with the Jackson Police Department in 1995 and then entered into the U.S. Army in 1996 and trained at Ft. Benning GA, receiving my Infantryman Badge and Paratrooper Wings.

I have trained at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft. Polk, Louisiana and returned to #3rd Rapid Deployment Unit at Ft. Stewart, GA. During my time in the U.S. Army, I was able to learn how to safely handle a weapon and utilize that weapon in appropriate ways. I earned a Sharpshooters medal in Basic Training and later earned Expert Rifleman for the last few years of my career.

I was taught that the basic fundamentals of marksmanship continue to assist the shooter, regardless of the shooting platform that they are using.

Shortly after discharging from the U.S. Army, I was hired by the Canton Police Department. I attended the University of Southern (USM) Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy in Gulfport in 1999.  During my training at the academy, I attained recognition for being an expert shot with a pistol.

As a Police Officer, I was able to join the Canton Police Department first certified SWAT Team (Bossier Parrish, LA) and later became a Member of the Gun Interdiction Team working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. My duties were to enforce gun laws and apprehend convicted felons in possession of firearms. I was selected to become Shift Sergeant for the Canton SWAT Team in 2006.
